Well I hate to say it, but as we’re into the second half of September, Summer is becoming a memory and Fall is very much becoming the present. But before we start thinking of Christmas and Florida, let’s take a minute to look back on everything the summer held. Thanks to Bette for submitting the photo, and thank you for reading. This photo was taken from my horse Johnny on a lovely breezy NC summer day at the barn where I keep my horses. Johnny competed through the Training level and I got my C-3 on him before he was forced to retire from riding in 2004 due to a lameness issue. With the help of my vet and tons of time and energy put into rehabbing him he was able to go back into light work and could walk, trot, canter, and go on easy trail rides. He even competed in a few Intro level Dressage tests- and got a 66% on of them! (Ok so I know it’s Intro, but b/c of his lameness problem this was amazing!) In 2007 he was retired from riding completely and became the world’s “Most Handsome Pasture Pal” -he really is an attractive horse, but since you can’t see his markings you’ll just have to believe me! 🙂
