As this is published, 5* event rider Michael Pollard is holding strong in his top-five position at the Mongol Derby, aka the longest horse race in the world. It won’t be long now until we have our winner, as the leaders have just a few horse stations left to check off — though with plenty of grueling territory standing in their path first.
You can keep track of all of the riders, which include a healthy number of eventers, on the Mongol Derby’s live race tracker here. Daily recaps of the action can also be found here, and the race’s social media is always buzzing with updates.

A note from EN:
It’s always difficult to report on the loss of a member of our community, and we want to pay Sarah Yorke and her family respect during this time. Sarah tragically lost her life on Friday while competing at Aston-le-Walls in England; her horse was unhurt in the incident. We’ll be keeping our news cycle intentionally slow over the next few days so that we can all take a pause to honor Sarah, and the others we have lost along the way. Information and news moves fast in this day and age, and sometimes it’s more important to take a pause. We’ll also keep you informed on any information that becomes available regarding support of Sarah’s family and community.
As the eventing community mourns the loss of Sarah, it’s important to remember to take care of yourself and each other. Support is always available via the British Eventing Support Trust Helpline . USEF members can access free, confidential counseling through the McLaughlin Young Group by calling 1-800-633-3353.
