News & Reading

What can I build on now? That’s one question USEA EA21 coach Emily Mastervich wanted her riders to be thinking about during the first day of lessons at the West coast Regional Clinic held at Twin Rivers in Paso Robles, CA. “I told these guys I was really hoping to pass along some of the years of knowledge that I have dealing with all types of horses,” Emily said. “You can really tailor things to helping the horses develop their weaknesses without picking on them, so we did quite a lot of that today.” You can read more from the first day’s report here.

We have a few eventers (as expected, because we’re just as insane as anyone out there) on the list and a whole roster of experienced horsewomen and horsemen — including one VERY familiar face by the name of Michael Pollard — ready to tackle the Mongolian Steppes starting on August 4. Meet the riders here.

4* eventer Kaylawna Smith-Cook stopped by the Practical Horseman Podcast to share her insights on balancing motherhood and running a professional program, what she’s learned from her superstar mom, Tamie Smith, and what matters the most to her in terms of horse training philosophy.
