News & Reading

Get your first in-depth glimpse at the entries for this year’s MARS Maryland 5 Star field! A couple of first-time horses, some 5* veterans and exciting overseas entries headline the 24-horse field, and you can start studying up here.

This spring Missouri-based veterinarian Dr. Katie Sisk York lost her homebred partner, Long Legs Lenore. “Lenny” was the first horse Katie bred out of her first event horse, and in her memory Katie and her friends banded together to create an idea of helping horse owners in need. Thus, the Lenny Fund was born to help offset care and treatment costs for deserving recipients. You can read the full backstory here.

We’re still loving the Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover content. Celebrate the Thoroughbred and all of the athleticism that’s endeared the breed to us in Practical Horseman‘s recap here.

Sponsor Corner: Kentucky Performance Products

Congratulations to Sibelius and Alison O’Dwyer on their incredible showing at this year’s Thoroughbred Makeover, earning third place in Dressage and eighth in Freestyle.

It’s a full-circle moment for Kentucky Performance Products president Delia Nash, who co-owns Sibelius with Jun Park. After winning more than $1.8 million and the 2023 Dubai Golden Shaheen, Sibelius has transitioned from international sprint star to elegant dressage athlete—all with the support of KPP’s thoughtfully designed nutritional products.

Trainer Alison O’Dwyer has relied on Equi-Jewel® to help Sibelius build balanced muscle and topline, Elevate® natural vitamin E to support recovery and neurological health, and Neigh-Lox® to keep him feeling his best inside and out. Together, that smart nutrition has helped Sibelius flourish in his second career.

In the freestyle, Alison paid tribute to his racing roots by performing in Delia’s original racing silks, which was a perfect symbol of the care, commitment, and connection behind every KPP horse.

From elite racehorses to promising sport horses, Kentucky Performance Products helps every horse perform and feel their best, no matter where they shine.
