One Big Thing: StrydeUp launches AI-powered video analysis platform
Objective performance analysis has become standard practice across many elite sports, yet equestrian athletes have remained largely reliant on subjective observation or expensive specialist equipment to access advanced movement data. StrydeUp aims to change that.
StrydeUp is an AI-powered video analysis platform that converts standard footage into detailed biomechanical assessments using only a smartphone or action camera. Without the need for sensors, wearable devices or specialist hardware, riders can upload a video and receive objective analysis of stride patterns, balance, lead changes, jump performance and other key movement metrics within minutes.
Rather than replacing traditional horsemanship, StrydeUp has been designed to complement it, combining objective data with the expertise of riders, trainers and veterinary professionals to support better-informed decisions.
Powered by proprietary computer vision and artificial intelligence, the platform generates repeatable performance metrics from ordinary video footage, allowing users to monitor long-term development, compare training sessions, identify movement trends and collaborate more effectively with trainers, owners and veterinary teams through a single mobile or web application. The technology has undergone extensive independent validation during development, providing users with consistent and objective insights that were previously difficult to access outside specialist laboratories.
The platform has been developed to support a broad range of users across the equestrian industry, from amateur riders to international riders seeking marginal performance gains, to coaches extending support between lessons, veterinary professionals monitoring movement and rehabilitation, and federations looking to improve transparency through objective performance data.
Nathan Budd, Belgian international showjumper and StrydeUp ambassador, said:
“The data we’ve built StrydeUp on addresses something I’ve felt my entire career. Instinct alone isn’t enough at the highest level. Now we can actually see what’s happening.”
Belgian equine veterinarian Dr Emmanuelle Van Erck added:
“Body language is the way horses speak. As vets, we are constantly watching for abnormal movement patterns that may indicate discomfort or lameness. AI-powered tools have transformed our ability to analyse motion, and with StrydeUp we can objectively assess horses during training and competition with exceptional precision. We can identify whether a horse is fit or fatigued, consistent or compensating, helping us intervene before injuries develop. StrydeUp is the most exciting AI technology we have worked on to date.”
Morgane Dassio, Swiss international rider and StrydeUp Ambassador, added:
“What makes StrydeUp so exciting is that it brings objective performance insights to every rider, not just professionals. Nothing will ever replace the feeling and instinct you develop with your horse, but having data to confirm those impressions gives you greater confidence in the decisions you make. Whether you’re training, monitoring progress or assessing a new horse, it provides an extra level of understanding that helps you make better-informed choices. Making this kind of technology accessible to the wider equestrian community is a real step forward for the future of our sport.”
StrydeUp has been developed by a multidisciplinary team combining expertise in artificial intelligence, elite showjumping, and equine veterinary medicine, ensuring the platform is both scientifically rigorous and practical for everyday use.
The platform officially launched on 10 July 2026. To mark the occasion, the StrydeUp team will be exhibiting at the Jumping International de Megève, where riders, trainers, veterinarians and industry professionals will be able to see the platform in action. Further analytical capabilities and platform developments are planned throughout the coming year.

Your horse’s hindgut is a carefully-balanced garden of microflora — in fact, there are more microbes in the gut of your horse than all the individual tissue cells that make up your horse’s body! Especially in mature horses, the balance of this population can be the difference between a happy, comfortable lifestyle and ongoing, intensive GI conditions.
