Inmates, numbers one, two, and three
Good Morning Eventing Nation! It doesn’t need mentioning that Red Hills starts today, along with the much anticipated open forum for the coaching selections. The subject of finding a new coach is a serious one, and to put it lightly the community is taking it seriously as well. One thing is clear, it’s going to be an exciting weekend in Tallahassee.
Now onto the news:
— Luhmuhlen is preparing to host a special opening ceremony at the 2011 European Championships. The night will include speeches from some of the Greats;
Ginny Leng, Lucinda Green, Mark Todd, and will feature on the big screen some of the most thrilling and spectacular cross country performances of the century.

The Red Hills weekend forecast is beautiful
— Alex Hua Tian just won his first international event. The event was a CIC* at Barocca d’Alva Horse Trials in Portugal, where he outperformed a field of over 91 competitors aboard a horse called Fuerst Love. Alex first really came onto the scene, or at least the public scene, at the 2008 Olympics. Unable to field a team from his home country of China, Alex competed in the Games as an individual. A mistake on cross country kept them from finishing, but in the days since then Alex has been working hard to develop his business, horses, and education, we’ll certainly see more of him in the future.
— Lucinda Fredericks will be back at Badminton this year. According to
this article from Horse and Hound, her decision to enter Prada was last minute and consequentially put her in the sixth slot on the waiting list. But as 31 horses withdrew before the start of the competition last year, its a shoe-in for Lucinda.
— Speaking of Badminton entries, if you have been wondering how the wait list process works,
here’s your answer. Basically, this year organizers have imposed an added qualification requiring that horses and riders must have finished in the top 50% of a CCI**** or the top 25% of a CCI*** to enter.
— Doug Payne has written
an update of the state of his horse, Crown Talisman. After sustaining a hairline fracture recently at Pine Top, Tali has surgery on the horizon.
EN Karma didn’t keep Doug above water last time, but we’ll try it out again in hope for a quick and safe recovery of Crown Talisman.
