The United States Eventing Association (USEA) has announced the creation of a brand-new honor for 2025 — the USEA Freelance Groom Award, celebrating the tireless individuals who keep the sport’s equine athletes happy, healthy, and ready to shine.
Behind every polished pony and peak performance stands a hardworking, under-caffeinated groom. Freelance grooms bring their skill and dedication to a wide range of riders and horses throughout the season. This new award recognizes one standout freelance groom who has gone above and beyond in their role, offering their expertise and dedication across multiple programs as they travel from event to event.
Nominations for the 2025 USEA Freelance Groom Award are now open through Monday, Nov. 3. Submissions can be sent directly via email to [email protected] or through the USEA Appreciation Awards Nomination Form here.
The recipient, selected by the USEA Grooms Committee, will receive $3,000 and an engraved memorial trophy in recognition of their contributions to the sport.
The award is made possible through the generosity of the Duda Family, whose support helps shine a well-deserved spotlight on the freelance grooms who form the heartbeat of eventing behind the scenes.
