Wednesday Morning News from Horse Quencher

Good Morning Eventing Nation! I hope those of you on the East Coast survived that awful heat flash of yesterday. It actually wasn’t as bad as it was forecasted to be (temperatures of 102 and higher) but it sure was a hot one. Thankfully the temperatures are supposed to drop for the rest of the week and into the weekend, giving all of us and our horses a chance to recover from the heat.

It’s a pretty busy day for news in the eventing world, that I’ll get to in a second, but first we have some exciting and very important news from some of our sponsors. The only thing better than having a sponsor is having a good sponsor. We are very lucky to have many of those here on Eventing Nation.
–Sadly, Rebecca Howard has had to withdraw Riddle Master from the Canadian funded trip to Bughley.  Rebecca noticed that “Rupert” did not feel quite right and a bone scan showed a hot spot and bruised bone on his femur.  Rupert should be back in time to make his Olympic campaign next year and, as Rebecca said, he doesn’t need to prove himself on the cross-country.  [Rebecca’s blog

Updated: The Wayne DuPage one-day horse trial ran last weekend in Illinois in DuPage County’s Pratt’s Wayne Woods Forest Preserve, in Wayne, Illinois.  The event moved entirely to the preserve in July of 2010 form Lamplight Village.  Wayne DuPage is one of my absolute favorite events to go to. This year was no exception as Wayne DuPage was considered a big success this year by those in attendance, despite the heat.  Thanks to Wayne DuPage’s organizers of many years, Erin and Dan Kowaleski.   [Chicago Tribune]

Listen up, folks, because this part of the news and notes you’re actually going to want to read: Bit of Britain just announced the beginning for what they’re calling the, “Chase the Challenge Across America” Series. John Nunn saw a need for better prizes for the winners at lower level events, and after brainstorming with colleagues for several months, the idea emerged for this contest. From now until the end of the 2011 season, if you and your horse manage to win two competitions in a row at Beginner Novice- Training, Bit of Britain will give you a $25.00 in a gift certificate along with a pair of their lovely brushing boots. How awesome is that? John Nunn and Bit of Britain have really outdone themselves this time, it is a great incentive for both our riders to be competitive and for our sport to start gaining more high profile coverage. We’ll have more information in the next few days, along with a way to claim your prize should you qualify.

— Our other excellent sponsor, FLAIR, is also holding a contest currently. The rules our simple: Design something both creative and artistic using the surface of the FLAIR strip as your canvas. Today is the first day of the contest with an ending date of July 25th. Along with the glory that comes simply from winning, you’ll also receive four free FLAIR strips, a hat, and microfiber bag. The photo of your winning FLAIR will also be posted… you guessed it… right here on Eventing Nation. Feed your flair, join in the fun, and submit to the contest! [FLAIR]
— HorseJunkiesUnited has a great photo article about the different horse trailers/ lorries seen in different parts of the world.
— Riders4Helmets, the popular helmet advocacy campaign, will be conducting a second Helmet Safety Symposium on July 23rd, 2011. The Symposium will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park for a fun-filled day of helmets through a series of seminars by neurology specialists and professionals in Equine sports. [USEA]

— If you haven’t bought Horse Quencher by reason of their seriously amusing ads and banners we proudly display on a weekly basis, then you should buy Horse Quencher for the reason that it is truly a well developed product that actually works! Hawley Bennett was introduced to the product just at Jersey Fresh this spring, she said,

“I was lucky enough to get introduced to Horse Quencher when I shipped my horse from California out to New Jersey for the Jersy Fresh CCI** Event. My fabulous little horse, 5 O’clocksomewhere, was looking a little dehydrated when we arrived.  In our competition packets, there were some samples of Horse Quencher.  With in two minutes of putting it in his water, he proceeded to drink the whole bucket! I could not believe it! In just a few hours he had drank all the water in his stall!!!!  I actually asked the vet if it was possible that he could drink too much water and get over hydrated!”

The Barbury CIC2* from Uptown Eventing:

That’s all for now, Eventing Nation. Stay cool today, I’ll see you soon.
