One Big Thing: FEI President Ingmar De Vos named to IOC Executive Board

Belgium’s Ingmar De Vos, who has served as the FEI President since 2014 and has been the President of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) since 2025, has been elected as a member of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). This appointment marks a significant moment for the continued development and representation of equestrian sport on the global sporting stage.

The IOC Executive Board is the supreme governing body responsible for overseeing the management of the organization and implementing the decisions taken by the IOC Session for all Olympic Games.

“During my mandate, I am committed to contributing to the future success of the Olympic Games, the IOC and the Olympic Family,” said Ingmar De Vos. “As the ASOIF President, I will do this with special attention for the role of the International Federations in the Olympic Movement. Together, we must continue to enhance the popularity, appeal, and long-term sustainability of the Olympic Games.”

Ingmar De Vos’ Qualifications:

  • Holds Masters degrees in political science, international relations, and international and European law from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (BEL).
  • Began his professional career as an advisor to the Belgian Senate.
  • Joined the Fédération Royale Belge des Sports Equestres (Royal Belgian Equestrian Federation) as Director General in 1990, and served as the Federation’s Secretary General until 2011.
  • Co-founder of the European Equestrian Federation (EEF), where he served as Secretary General from 2010 to 2011.
  • Joined the FEI as Secretary General in 2011.
  • Elected FEI President in 2014 by an overwhelming majority, and was unanimously re-elected for second and third terms in 2018 and 2022.
  • Elected as a Member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2017.
  • Member of several IOC Commissions, including the Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games’ Coordination Commission, Legal Affairs Commission, and the Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Commission.
  • Member of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) Governance Taskforce since 2016, and was unanimously elected ASOIF President in 2024.
  • Member of the Executive Committee of SportAccord (the world sport and business summit) since 2021.
  • Elected twice as both Vice-President and President of the International Horse Sports Confederation since 2014.
  • Served on the Foundation Board and Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) since 2018.
