Eventing runs on volunteers and Rocking Horse Stables in Altoona, Florida, goes to great lengths to make sure their event volunteers are happy and having a good time. Because of this they have volunteers who have been coming back to help out for 15 and 20+ years! Some of their volunteers are boarders, some are locals, some are self-proclaimed ‘snowbirds.’ Others still knew nothing about horses when they started volunteering but got hooked on the sport (as you do).
Today’s video was created by Irene Doo and crew with support from the USEA Volunteer Incentive Program. You’ll meet some of Rocking Horse’s volunteers and hear all about what they love most about the job. Along with the video, Rocking Horse posted the following on their Facebook page, echoing how I think we all feel about the importance of volunteers and how much we appreciate them:
THANK YOU does not seem enough! Our volunteers are the best!!! They are an amazing and dedicated group of people that spend their weekends volunteering for long hours and in all types of weather, and many of them return the next day to do it all over again! They get here as the sun is coming up and are here until the last rider crosses the finish line. They give so much and ask for so little in return. Without them, we could not have these events, it’s that simple! The eventing community owes a huge debt of gratitude to each and every volunteer that gives their time at horse trials across the country and schooling shows alike. They are what keep this sport going and we so appreciate them! So thank you to anyone that has volunteered. Your commitment to this sport is invaluable!!!

The horse that matters to you matters to Kentucky Performance Products; that is why you can count on them to provide supplements that meet the challenges facing your horse.
Struggling to keep weight on your hard keepers? When your horse needs more energy and nutrients
than hay and grain can provide, turn to the high-fat supplement, EndurExtra®.
EndurExtra’s 50% fat formula provides the calories, vitamins and prebiotics your horse needs to gain and maintain optimal body condition. Just 8 ounces per day supports weight gain and a robust appetite. The additional vitamin E in EndurExtra sustains the healthy muscles, nerves and immune system your horse needs to reach his full potential.
The blend of fats in EndurExtra are an extraordinary source of dietary energy. Fat contains more than two times the energy that carbohydrates and proteins do, thereby fueling horses more efficiently. Fat is considered a “cool” feedstuff because it does not cause the hormone spikes that lead to excitability.
Adding EndurExtra to your horse’s diet allows you to decrease the amount of sugary concentrates
(grains) you feed, reducing the risk of colic and laminitis resulting from grain overload. EndurExtra is an excellent source of calories for performance horses that are sensitive to sugar but still need calories to fuel training and competition. Try EndurExtra today.
