Winter’s Sunday Links from Dubarry

Another winter storm hit the East Coast yesterday — lucky us. I experienced the snow firsthand during my stint as an honorary working student for Sinead Halpin Eventing, an opportunity provided by the Howdaa Working Student Bootcamp. Lesson 1: The show must go on — snow or no snow — as evidenced by Meg Kep taking a very bundled Tate on a long hack outdoors in near-blizzard conditions. Lesson 2: Captain Meg runs a ship-shape facility. Meg’s experience as a leading head groom means she not only commands respect but deserves it. It also means I felt like I had about six thumbs when she was critiquing — and subsequently correcting — my mediocre wrapping skills. Practice makes perfect, right? Tomorrow our little crew of Howdaa working students will be running the barn under Meg’s watchful eye. I’ll be bringing you lots more from Howdaa and SHE this week, including an update on Tate and a tour of Sinead’s new facility. Stay tuned!
