Name: Sable Giesler
Age: 16
Location: Powassan Ontario
Relationship to Eventing: Preliminary Rider
Favorite Eventing moment/story?: My favorite moment in eventing was when I completed cross country on my horse Evil Munchkin (Rambo) at his first CCI* at Kentucky Midsouth. I had so much fun on that course and my horse handled it so well. We were both rather green at that level but we managed to get around double clear despite a few iffy moments. I remember talking to my coach at that event Ian Roberts when we were cooling Rambo out and going over how we could have improved a few areas and I was still thinking to myself “Wow Rambo just did a one star!”. I think anyone that does their first international event can relate to that feeling of shock.
If you had to pick one reason why you love Eventing, what would it be?: I love eventing because I love cross country. There is no riding discipline that has anything comparable to the thrill of cross country. I get the greatest enjoyment out of jumping neatly through a bank complex then landing galloping a table and then setting up for a drop into water. It is so exciting heading out of the start box knowing all the challenges ahead of you.
Overall Goals in the sport: Compete at NAJYRC in the CCI* division.
Biggest Role model: My biggest role model is Oliver Townend. I have a huge amount of respect for all the success he has had at such a young age. I took a clinic with him a few years ago and he was so helpful and really down to earth. He has worked hard for what he has and is trying extremely hard to make a viable living out of the sport. I can also relate to his competitive attitude.
