Matthias Rath has reported having a case of glandular fever (also known as mononucleosis) and will not be attending CHIO Aachen on super horse Totilas. This means he misses the second selection trial for the German Olympic Team. Rath’s father is keeping the horse fit, while optimistically hoping for a full recovery from Rath in two weeks time. In related news, the presumption that Matthias Rath will automatically be selected for the German Squad without this competition, as well as the recent Australian Eventing Team objections are not the only troubles for the FEI as London comes around the corner.
