Happy Thursday Eventing Nation! You’re only a day away from Friday, and two days away from the weekend! Hoorah!
Anyhow, obviously the most exciting thing this week/weekend is the NAJYRC in Kentucky. Dressage for the Eventing portion begins today with the CCI** at 7:30 AM with my main man Connor Husain and his brilliant horse Bruno!! When I did YR’s in 2009, they were testing out the lighting system for the WEG the next year, and my dressage time was at 11 PM at night!! My horse is a ridiculously spooky animal anyway, and I’m pretty sure the Eventing Gods were looking down upon us that night because somehow we got through the test and survived with a decent score. Thank goodness for this year’s crop they aren’t practicing middle of the night dressage again. [Ride Times] [NAJYRC Teams] [Live Scores]

For the rest of you, we have a handful of events going on this weekend:
The above picture is real life, I assure you. A certain Graham Wadsworth in England plotted his map using GPS, and then spent a day and a half walking the 10 acres of cornfield with his mower and later trimmed it up using hand trimmers. If you look closely, the horse is actually jumping a real stone wall! [Shocker, Mr. Wadsworth has a horse-crazy daughter named Hannah]
The husband of deceased Erica Marshall has filed a wrongful death suit relating to her tragic death in the KESMARC Hyperbaric Chamber Explosion in February of this year. The suit claims that KESMARC was was negligent by continuing to operate the chamber before certain repairs were made, for not removing or covering the horse’s metal shoes, and proceeding with therapy on a horse that was inadequately sedated. [Wrongful Death Suit Filed in Deadly KESMARC Hyperbaric Chamber Explosion]
Once again, I’m jealous of England and their national horse-awareness. This time, the British Horse Society is asking people to submit applications for new “bridle-ways” as a part of the Paths for Communities project, a Natural England initiative to encourage local communities to help provide new bridleways. Yeah, thats right, there’s a nationally funded organization spending £2 million on trails for horses.
Rafalca-gate continues, but this time, the Democratic National Committee has hopped on board, releasing this video of “Mitt Dancing Around the Issues”. [Apologies for getting political]
For those of you who sadly haven’t realized that following me on Twitter is the coolest thing since sliced bread, news of WFP attending Adelaide later this year has just hit the ground. Adelaide is the only CCI4* in the world that Fox-Pitt has not won yet. So, obviously, he’s heading down under to attend to that.
Ever been to Jamaica? Not really the type of place you’d imagine taking up 3-day Event training, right? Well, Samantha Albert isn’t your average lady. This year, she will become the only Jamaican to ever compete in an equestrian event in the Olympics. Quick tid-bits: she used to improvise in training by rolling logs into the sea for water jumps, and she has a horse named “Squirt”. [Usain Bolt ain’t got nothin’ on Samantha Albert]
James Atkinson and Debbie Rosen’s The Alchemyst @ Rebecca Farm CIC***. I love the Black Keys, but be careful with your volume on this one.
