Like many of you, I enthusiastically kept up with the weekend’s NAJYRC competition. Every rider who set foot in the arena deserves our respect and admiration–years of hard work and dedication went into each and every performance; just getting to the Championships is a huge accomplishment. At age 54, Karen O’Connnor is America’s “senior-most” Olympian. The TeamUSA.org article quotes Karen as saying, “How did that happen… I’m like a senior citizen. What’s that?” A “senior citizen” who can ride ’em under the table, is what that is. Go Karen. [Team USA]

Australian eventer Shane Rose, who withdrew his horse Taurus from Olympic contention due to a soft-tissue injury yesterday, seems to have a level head about the situation. “In our sport we’re probably more used to disappointment than a lot of other sports simply by the nature of having another animal involved,” he said. “We get used to it, unfortunately, and I guess that’s what makes the good times more rewarding.” Thanks to Kate for the tip.
