Unless you’re a true night owl, by the time you read this news round-up for Saturday, the jumping phases at Belsay International in the UK will be underway, and if you’ve got a screen to spare it’s definitely worth tuning in for! Ros Canter has kept her power streak going, taking the lead in the headlining CCI4*-S division with 5* winner Izilot DHI. Their score of 23.7 was good enough to best defending European champions and Olympic medallists Laura Collett and London 52, who laid down a 24.1 in the dressage. Laura is joined by herself in the top three with the 12-year-old Boekelo top-10 finisher Count Onyx on a score of 27.8.
With many of the pairs in this 4*-S likely heading to Long formats such as Luhmühlen’s CCI5* or Bramham’s CCI4*-L next month, or looking ahead to the summer’s FEI Eventing World Championships, it won’t be surprising to see some of them take it slightly easier on the time tomorrow, but you can tune in to see how it all shakes out for yourself as the 4*-S will show jumping before essentially heading straight off to contest Adrian Ditcham’s cross country course, which you can see some bits and bobs of below.
