View: Tribute to Stepp, presented by World Equestrian Brands

This week’s ears photo is a lovely photo with a very sad story behind it. If you stay in this sport long enough, at one time or another, you’ll probably be faced with a situation of losing your equine companion, like reader Suzanne Voll faced earlier this month. Many horses come and go in our lives, but it never makes it any easier saying goodbye to our friends. Thanks to Suzanne for sending in the photo and her story, and as always, thank you for reading.   If you’d like to submit an ears photo of your latest adventure, please send it along with a caption describing it to: [email protected].

From Suzanne:

I wanted to send in a picture of my soul horse, Stepp. I don’t remember when I took this picture over the summer, but it was a lazy day and I hopped on bareback with just a halter to go for a quick walk in the fields. I think it was June. On Tuesday, November 8th there was a freak accident in his field and I had to make the decision to put my best friend to rest. At this point I don’t know where to go from here, but I’m thankful for the 9 years we had together and for everything he taught me, and so many kids and adults alike. He was the best representation of a horse there ever will be, and I’ll somehow have to go on without him. I wanted to share my favorite view of the world, one I’ll never have again. Thank you.
