Friday started off with a good down pour and out came the Hardcore Spectators in rain gear. Some of the smart ones flanked the warm up arena for an up-close view of the rider’s warm up. Tracey Valentine shares the sights and sounds from the lesser-seen areas of the Kentucky Horse Park:
Parking is fun when you meet this cheerful Land Rover volunteer. He is all smiles and Kentucky charm.”Makes the day go faster,” says this gentleman parking attendant. Quick to banter with each driver or help carry a fern to the rental golf cart… I hear his friendly voice each morning and the day seems just right! Wednesday afternoon’s inspection was a parade of well groomed horses shinning in the sun as the riders presented them for inspection. Everyone was dressed to best set off their horses’ well braided manes and tails coast and several haunch designs. A smile and turn for the judges and brisk trot up and down the lane to the sound of the cameras professionals using motor drive. The 2019 Land Rover Three-Day Event is under way!
The horses and riders of #LRK3DE are all settled in to the Kentucky Horse Park, ready to run, jump and strut their stuff.
