We have just received word that over the weekend Holly Payne was involved in one of those freak accidents that result in terrible injuries that don’t quite seem to add up. Holly was cross country schooling a young horse at Full Gallop Farm in Aiken, and while walking up a hill the horse spooked and slipped sideways onto her. Her navicular bone in her foot has been badly shattered, and she is due for surgery today.
Holly did an interview with me at the last Training Sessions and was excited about her spring season with her gelding, Santino. She successfully moved him up to the Advanced level at Pine Top only a day before her accident. Sunny will be going to the Training Sessions today and tomorrow for David to ride while Holly is unable to participate. While this injury comes at an inconvenient time, we can only send our thoughts and well wishes her way, and hope for a speedy recovery and a quick return to the sport that she loves. Get well soon Holly!
