Well, just like that, day one at Burghley comes to a close. It was quite a successful day for the American contingent, who currently have two riders in the top five and all three within the top 15. Of course, things could well change after tomorrow, but it’s safe to say that the U.S. is well within striking distance for what is destined not to be a dressage show.
Marilyn Little was the final American out today, and she was pleased overall with her and Demi’s efforts in the grass ring today.
Meanwhile, Arthur seems none too impressed with his surroundings. He says “I’ve been here, done that, what next?” Best of luck to Allison and her mighty chestnut as they look to defend their position in third place going into cross country.
Gotta love the support shown to Meghan O’Donoghue and her scrappy little OTTB, Pirate. Social media was positively overflowing with love for these two as they scored their best four-star dressage marks to date. And just wait until cross-country day, folks, you’re definitely in for a treat!
Everyone in the pub goes wild for @MM_ODonoghue and her personal best test! Well…not really, but congrats to her anyway! #eventinglive

Meanwhile, if you happen to be fortunate enough to be attending Burghley this year, don’t forget to check out what sounds like an amazing trade and concession fair. Is it bad that I look for food before goods? #foodmotivated

The second block of dressage riders will ride tomorrow, and then it’s on to cross country on Saturday! We’ll have much, much more from Burghley as it progresses, so be sure to keep it locked right here!
