Biomechanics of Horses Jumping Presented by Kentucky Performance Products

This is an excellent video from Centaur Biomechanics that compiles footage from the London 2012 Olympic Games show jumping competition. The video is taken with a high speed camera that works nearly 25 times faster than the human eye, and shows us many things that we would miss otherwise! You can see exactly how far their legs bend, where and when they tip their weight, and best of all, you can see how the riders prepare for the jumps and use their own balance in mid-air.

While I obviously disagree with the statement at the beginning that Show Jumpers are the ultimate athletes (EVENTERS DUH), I still think this is an amazing view of some of the best athletes around. Enjoy!
