Boekelo Thursday News & Notes from Devoucoux

It’s dressage day in the Netherlands, and we’ve got two riders slated to compete from the US today, and three tomorrow (including Clark’s horse Universe, who is there as well). Unless you woke up at an ungodly hour this morning, Phillip has already completed his dressage test, as he was the second to go at 9.07am. Clark and Glen go at 2:00pm this afternoon. Don’t forget, there is a 6 hour time difference (forwards), so when you get up, they will already be halfway through! Also, as a quick fun note, if you click on the names in the leader board from the link below, you will see more information about the age, sex, and breeding of each horse.

NEWS:

Eager to check out the 2012 Boekelo CCI*** Cross Country course?  Good thing our friends at Uptown Eventing are on site, with camera in hand. Check out this link for amazing photos of all the jumps. My favorite is the barn jump at 21. I always love those. [Boekelo XC Preview]

Michael Pollard is at it again, this time with promoting his new cause for trailer safety. Following the grisly accident earlier this year with Michael’s horses, he started the Road to Recovery Campaign, which emphasizes developing new safety measures within trailer construction, as well as education for drivers and haulers. Pollard Eventing has announced Jamco as their official partner in the venture. [Pollard Eventing Partners with Jamco for Trailer Safety]

It’s official, Clayton Fredericks has arrived. You’ve seen his horses entered at Fair Hill, and we know you’re just positively giddy at the chance to catch a glimpse of his luscious locks walking the XC in Maryland. Be honest. [Clayton’s Twitter]

Blogger Lauren Spreiser is all about the schooling shows, especially at our favorite Eventing farm Morningside Training Farm, and manages to blog about her everyday activities in a way that captivates us all. I’m considering making her an honorary Eventer, even though she voluntarily stays in that silly little rectangle. [Two Days In The Life]

Equestrian reality show? You don’t say. A new series called “Swapping Saddles” will premiere on the Royal Champion Youtube Channel (click for a teaser), and involves pitting English riders against Western riders in a contest to see who can switch disciplines the best. What the producers didn’t know, was that Hunter Princesses do NOT get along with crusty old Western reiners. Good luck with that one, folks. [Equestrian Reality Show Gives Riders a New Test]

While not strictly related to Eventing or horses, most of us wouldn’t be the people we are without our dogs. And thus, I give you this wonderful comic, which, if you are not familiar with The Oatmeal, get with the program! [My Dog: The Paradox]

A brand new event entry website is premiering on the internet. Equestrian Entries offers the chance to enter both Eventing competitions, as well as Dressage shows and clinics. In an effort to gain more popularity and notice, they are offering free 60-day classifieds. I’m not sure if they can take on Event Entries, but more power to them. [Equestrian Entries]

Um, my favorite time of year is here….FALL!!! Which also means, the SmartPak Look Book is out! What’s a Look Book, you ask? Come on, haven’t you seen The Devil Wears Prada?? It’s a show of all their new/cool/weather appropriate clothing! Check out their YouTube channel to see more looks, but for right now I’ll leave you with this one, which I’m pretty sure I’m planning on buying, so I can look really stylish on my trot sets.
