Cheetahs Stretch Their Legs At Texas Racetrack

The cheetahs at the Houston Zoo got an early Christmas present when Sam Houston Race Park allowed the animals to run on the grass track — with no horses around, of course. Cheetahs need about 600 feet to reach top speeds of up to 65 miles per hour, so the staff set up a lure on the racetrack covering that distance. Much like the lures you see at Jack Russell Terrier races, the staff reeled in a stuffed duck while the cheetahs happily chased after it. This is just a great, feel-good video that shows a kind gesture from the horse community. Go cheetahs!
