Andrew Nicholson was awarded a sweet $50,000 Christmas gift as the HSBC Rankings leader at the end of the 2012 season, having held onto the world No. 1 spot since claiming team bronze at the London Games. His other top finishes included a 7th at Rolex, a 4th at Luhmühlen, and an individual 4th at the Olympics. [Horse Talk NZ]

Four ponies from Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses in Gainesville, Fla. have made their way to Connecticut to work with children, families and first responders of last week’s tragic Sandy Hook school shooting. [Horse & Country TV]

The British Equestrian Federation honored eight individuals at the London International Horse Show at Olympia for their exceptional achievements. Among the recipients were eventer Zara Phillips and Tim Hadaway, LOCOG Sport Competition Manager for equestrian events at the London Olympic Games. [British Eventing]
