EN Sticky Britches Hall of Fame, Part I: ‘Don’t worry, I’m a professional’

What you got in them britches?

Even the best riders in our sport get knocked loose every now and again. The scrappiest of them not only find a way to sit tight, but proceed to carry on with their course as though nothing happened at all.

Here are a few amazing saves on some of the toughest cross-country courses in the world:

Andrew Nicholson & Mr. Smiffy at Burghley in 2000 (they went on to win the event)

Karen O’Connor & Park Hall at Rolex (early ’90s?)

Gwendolyn Fer & Leria Du Ter at Badminton in 2011

Clayton Fredericks & Walterstown Don at Barbury in 2012

Allison Springer & Arthur at Rolex in 2008

Michael Jung & La Biosthetique Sam at Aachen in 2013

William Fox-Pitt & Cool Mountain at the European Eventing Championships in 2011

Jessica Phoenix & Exponential at the World Equestrian Games in 2010
