Hannah Sue’s Friday News and Notes from FLAIR

Good morning Eventing Nation! You have made it to the end of the week. Hopefully those of you on the east coast are getting rused to the aftershocks that keep occurring. I was very sad that I didn’t get to feel the earthquake. But the 1am aftershock? Oh yes, that I felt. And now a hurricane? The world is ending. I am taking all $50 I have and going to blow it.

As we all know based on John’s great coverage, Richland Park is going on. And across the pond, and then a little bit further, the European Championships are going on. For those of you not at all the events that are going down, it’s maybe for the best! The weather could get crazy this weekend on the east coast, and well you never know, and earthquake might just hit again.
School is back in session. This of course means I now have more time to stalk the internet for EN news.
Let’s start with your event results for the weekend:

Three Days Three Ways: What to wear to Polo
In case you just returned from the North Pole, Philip Dutton and Ben are leading the CIC*** at Richland. Jennie B and Buck are tied for second. Hannah Sue is leading the Pan Am section. [Richland]
Great Burghley Horses Remembered: In 1986, Murphy Himself and Ginny Elliot won Burghley. But the cross country wasn’t exactly a round to remember. Murphy ran off numerous times with Ginny and she recalls at some points they were just completely out of control. After a few more events, she handed the ride over to Ian Stark. Murphy and Ian went on to win the WEG in 1990 and was second at Badminton the year after. [Murphy Himself]
Doug Payne was happy with his test but not happy with the score board [DPEquestrian]
A herd of horses has tested positive for EIA in Arkansas:
At present the infection seems to be isolated to the single herd. The owner of the herd does not show horses nor do they sell any horses to any extent. The index herd has only one adjacent herd and that herd is in the process of being tested today. The source of the infection has not been found. The most recent addition to the index herd was traced back to its origin. Those horses had all negative EIA tests but were retested by Arkansas Livestock Poultry Commission personnel and all their horses were negative.” [Jurga Report]

FLAIR Masterclass: Course walk at the Sunken Road with Philip Dutton [FLAIR]

The European Championships dressage day 2 takes place today. The Germans are leading with Britain following in second. Mary King and William FP will be going today for Team GB. Laura Collett and Polly Stockton will be up to bat as the individuals. [British Eventing]

Update: The USEA‘s Thursday recap video from Josh Walker–

Sorry for not conjugating whatever it was John mentioned in his Burghley post. I can’t even conjugate verbs in the English language properly, let alone another. Stay locked in for some great coverage. Go eventing.
