Friday News & Notes from FLAIR Nasal Strips

The current social media challenge, five favorite horse photos. The current social media challenge, five favorite horse photos.

The newest social media trend going around is to receive a tag from a friend instructing you to pick out five of your favorite horse photos. I somehow don’t have a ton of photos of the horses in my life, but I patched together a few of my sentimental favorites.

The top two are my newest main man, Jesse, who I purchased just over a month ago. The bottom row contains my very first known sighting of a horse and my former horse, Sutton, who will always have a special place in my heart.

It’s a cool way to look back through your memories and put together some of your favorite moments. What on earth did we do before camera phones and social media? I guess I could dig out the real photo albums at some point, but I’m not sure I want to!

Finally, let’s all raise our hands to the sky and thank the eventing gods that the 2015 season officially begins this weekend! We made it through the winter (sort of), EN! No more long weekends with no scores to stalk. There is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Fair Hill International is hiring! Executive Director Charlie Colgan has announced his retirement, leaving an opening for a new candidate to fill his shoes. If you’re the “glue” that holds things together, this might be the job for you! [FHI Executive Director Position]

Great news for OTTBs everywhere! CANTER and the Retired Racehorse Project have officially joined forces to network to find homes for ex-racehorses who are coming off of the track. The goal is to facilitate the rehoming of OTTBs, and the two organizations joining forces will only increase the exposure these wonderful horses get. [CANTER and RRP Join Forces]

The USOC announced yesterday that Boston will be the U.S. bid city for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The finalist cities were Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington D.C. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until 2017 to hear the final decision for the host city. In the meantime, we have Rio de Janiero (2016), Pyeongchang, South Korea (2018), and Tokyo (2020) to look forward to. [Boston Will Represent U.S. 2024 Bid]

George Morris is headed Down Under! Fresh off of beating the pants off of coaching some of the young stars of the U.S., George will now teach in clinics around Australia this month. Anyone care to head south and get away from this terrible winter cold? I hear it’s summer down there! [George Morris Takes Over Australia]

SmartPak Product of the Day: Beat the Bitter Cold! I’ve become a huge Under Armour fan of late. Between trips to the gym and the barn, these great layering items are wonderful for moisture wicking and extra warmth. I’ve particularly come to love this Under Armour Infrared Vest. This fancy vest contains a ColdGear® Infrared core, which basically acts like a layer of insulation without adding a lot of bulk to your Michelen man outfit. Stay warm and look great with this vest!
