The West coast got to partake in some great education this week at the USEA Emerging Athlete 21 training session held at Aspen Farms (WA) featuring coach Jan Byyny. The second day of the training session focused on the concept of mind over matter. “Our brains don’t process the negative,” Jan said to riders on Day 2 of the clinic at Aspen Farms. “Something that’s really important as a rider is to frame what you want to do in a positive way.” Read a full recap here.
A recent mass employment termination at the bustling Los Angeles Equestrian Center (LAEC) has sent waves through the equestrian community. As immigration remains a large part of the current political landscape, the terminations at LAEC may only be the tip of the iceberg considering much of the equestrian industry across disciplines employ immigrants. “My understanding was that there was a group of people that were asked to verify their paperwork to be employees there,” Joe Thorpe, who runs his hunter/jumper business out of LAEC, told The Chronicle of the Horse. “Several people were unable to supply the documents that they wanted, and they were let go on Thursday.
