Friday News & Notes from World Equestrian Brands

A friend of mine recently requested my help in sourcing a young horse, and of course she and I have the exact same type to it’s been both easy and very tempting for me. We both like sporty, short coupled geldings that are ridiculously athletic and maybe a little bit spicy, and sending out feelers to my friends in the racing world has been an exercise in restraint, to say the least. I mean, what would happen to me if I had unlimited financial freedom? I would be a 100% hoarder of horses, that’s what would happen.

News From Around the Globe:

England is catching on to the Eventing Grand Prix bug, with Gemma Tattersall and her quirky mare Santiago Bay winning the class at Bolesworth this week. The funny little mare is not without her peculiarities, but Gemma rates her as a top star because she loves the sport so much. The course was designed by Mark Phillips, who seems to have a dab hand at this new sport, and was challenging for all the competitors. [Gemma Tattersall Wins Eventing Grand Prix]

Jonty and Art: the movie?? A film company has expressed interest in the story we all know and love, that of Jonty Evans and his miraculous recovery and love for his crowd funded Olympic partner, Cooley Rorkes Drift. In true style, the film is now applying for more crowd funding, and we support it 100%! [Jonty & Art: The Movie]

When you think of Clydesdales, you probably just think of the Budweiser commercials. However, Jessica Crannell-Menard is hoping to change the perception that the breed can only pull a cart. She does a little bit of everything with the breed that she loves, including dressage and jumping, as well as trail obstacles. “We shouldn’t always confuse brilliance with correctness. Just because he might not have the loftiest trot or an explosive canter, doesn’t mean he isn’t a great riding horse.” [Clydesdales FTW]
