Got Bee’s Monday News and Notes from Ecogold

Just in case you are ever sitting around and trying to figure out something to do for a new and interesting challenge, check out bees. Who knew? There is an actual contest to wear bees. My question is, what do the people look like after the bees come off their skin? And please, tell me they all wear goggles. I don’t suggest trying this at home folks. However, this fall, John will be risking his life and wearing bees to raise money at local horse trails. If you see him around this summer, bat a bee his way to help him start training. [BEES]

There is a lot going this week with a major even happening out in Montana. Also, today there will be an exclusive interview with Alec Lochore courtesy of Samantha. Stay tuned!

As we all know Laura Collett is a rising sensation on the British stage. Horse and Country got with Laura for a quick interview. Laura says she can’t imagine a life without horses and her last vacation was in Barbados. I would imagine Laura won’t be on vacation anytime in the near future with her senior debut on the horizon. Laura’s key to success? Weekly lessons with British head coach, Yogi Breisner. [Ten minutes with Laura Collett]

Hunter Oaks Horse Trials is getting underway this weekend and up and coming young rider, Michelle Mercier will be on hand. In an interview with pantagraph.com, Michelle discusses in the article, what eventing is and the special bond it takes (with the horse of course) to compete in this sport. Michelle, a college student, balances her education with horses and often times drives three hours or longer on the weekends to train and compete. [Hunter Oaks underway]
Totilas gets passed Ravel in Aachen by only .825. Totilas appeared to be tired with several mistakes. Ravel had a flawless test and when his score was announced the crowds booed in disapproval. Many believe Ravel would not better his 2010 WEG performance but so he did, nearly beating Totilas. Peters was delighted with Ravel and completely honored with how the crowd responded to his score. Laura B. from Great Britain finished forth. [Dressage News] [Jurga Report]
