Happy New Year! Tuesday News & Notes from Cavalor

The very talented Alec Thayer captured this image of some guy out riding with Cheshire Foxhunt over the weekend. Thanks for sharing, Alec!

Happy New Year, Eventing Nation! Champagne headache aside, I hope you woke up this morning with a renewed zest for tackling all those big goals you’ve set for yourself for the coming year.

Goals are important, you know. A couple weeks ago Sinead Halpin posted this picture on Twitter of a vision board she made for herself in 2006, year of The Secret. Do you remember that book? Oh, I do. Made popular by Oprah, the book advocated the use of positive thinking and intention to shape your life. It suggested putting together a “vision board” with pictures and whatnot to help you clarify what you wanted and make those things feel more tangible. In the case of Sinead’s board, she really, really, really wanted to compete at Rolex. Like really bad. Consciously and on perhaps some deeper level as well, she was putting that ball in motion. She named her goal and was focusing hard on it. Of course, it took much more than a collage to get Sinead where she is today, but isn’t that kind of inspiring? The power of goal-setting. Dwell on that for a moment, EN.
