Round 1 Entry:

Upon thinking of what in the world to write for this year’s entry a song popped in my head, Alexander Hamilton from Hamilton- An American Musical.  Perhaps a parody, and who doesn’t love a good musical, we can even ride to music in dressage, which gives me another idea, by I digress. I thought about replacing Alexander Hamilton with Phillip Dutton or Boyd Martin, but it didn’t just flow right.  Michael Jung, Ze Terminator, maybe, it was a start.

How does a German, rider, son of a Joachim

And a terminator, dropped in the middle of a horse park in Kentucky by providence, impressed,

In domination, grow up to be a hero and a warrior?

But I wasn’t quite feeling it, and the clock was ticking, so with that I started again.  Since we are building up to the Rio Olympics, and history could be made, and hopefully nothing to do with the Zika Virus or the machine guns that you can see from XC, but a Gold for USA!  History has its eyes on USA Eventing!!!!

History Has Its Eyes On You (Team USA edition)

as sung by Team USA Eventing and Coaches

original lyrics and music by Lin-Manuel Miranda

Phillip to Lauren:

I was older than you are now

When I was rode in my first Olympic Games

I lead my Blue straight into a win

        I witnessed the glory firsthand

        I made every jump

And I felt the pride rise in me

And even now I go again

Knowing history has its eyes on me

US Team and Coaches:

        Whoa, Whoa, Whoa

        Whoa,   Whoa,   Yeah

Lauren:

History has its eyes on you

US Team and Coaches:

        Whoa, Whoa, Whoa

        Whoa,   Whoa,   Yeah

Boyd to LK:

Let me tell you what I wish I’d known

When I was young and dreamed of glory

        You have no control

Who rides, who falls, who tells your story

Clark to LK:

I know that we can win

I know that greatness lies in us

But remember from here on in

History has its eyes on you

US Team and Coaches:

        Whoa, Whoa, Whoa

History has its eyes on us
