John Failed Wednesday Reader from Horse Quencher

John and his future wife

I come home from working in the heat all day only to find John has attempted to take all of the links. I know John does this on purpose. The funny things is, I am highly competitive when it comes to pretty much everything (except riding my horse). As my friends will tell you, I turn everything into a competition- who can run the furthest, eat the most, arm wrestle the best, have more friends on Facebook, look up things fastest on the internet. I don’t know what it is, but it’s in my blood (I am going to thank my father for this one). So when I saw John’s post, I immediately knew I had a task to complete. Thank goodness my dear friend read the post and decided to help (I will always cheat). Thank you to the mystery friend who refuses to have her name used. Probably because John knows where she lives.
Sticking on the John subject, he called me today to discuss official EN business. He started to tell me about his trip to London. The first thing he mentioned? He met Laura Collett’s boyfriend. Let’s just say, John was a little disappointed to find out he existed. I think John is starting to worry about his single status. Luckily the same friend mentioned above sent me a helpful website. I think this site will cure all of John’s loneliness and land him the hot babe he dreams of. Here you go John. Equestrian Singles. Let me know if you need help with your user name.

Now for the goods your probably came here for…

Holly Hudspeth is hitting up her first show since becoming a mother. Holly and her students will be at the Carolina Horse Park this weekend for the started trail. Although Holly has only ridden a few times, she thought this would be a good way to get herself back into the swing of competing. Holly’s students also had a great weekend at Loch Moy. Rumor has it Hailey was there participating has assistant trainer and did a fantastic job. Go team Hudspeth! [Holly’s Blog]

Area 5 and the entire eventing community lost a great supporter and volunteer. On July 13, Jackie High lost her battle with pancreatic cancer. On July 16 services were held to celebrate the life of Jackie. Everyone at Eventing Nation would like to send their sincere condolences to Jackie’s family and all of those she touched. [Jackie High]

With all the talk on London 2012, why not predict a few medals. USA Today has listed the Individual Eventing medal picks for 2012. I feel like the first three chosen (Michael Jung, WFP, and Andrew Nicholson) could be spot on. Maybe they had the help of the WEG to make their picks? The rest of the positions I am not so sure about. And they are for sure FOOLISH not to have Piggy French high up on that list. I put her in a top 3 placing. As we get closer, I will name my medalists. Does anyone want to share their predictions? [USA Today]

The dressage phase of the the eventing portion of USPC Championships is getting underway. I feel like that was just a really awkwardly put together sentence. But I’m leaving it. I want to wish the best of luck to all my Mountain Skyline Pony Club girls. Show em’ what ya got!

In times of desperation, extreme exhaustion, or lack of motivation, we need a pick me up. But just how desperate are you? Five Hour Energy? Sure. Mountain Dew? Of course. Red Bull? Why not. Horse semen? What the &$%^. At what I am starting to believe might be some crazy sort of festival (in New Zealand), shots of horse semen will be sold to give those who are struggling an extra kick. “Horses are pure testosterone… the idea is you knock it back and feel like a stallion yourself.” The shot will be sold with a chaser (similar to Red Bull). And don’t you worry, it will taste exactly what you have all imagined horse semen would taste like. I am thinking this might be a good EN contest in the future…[A Stiff Drink]

In case anyone wonders what the Captain does when he comes to coach America…

I love feel good stories. Suki provides just that. After burning two thirds of her body in a 2009 fire, Suki can no longer be ridden. While she is still healing, she is able to provide motivation and inspiration to others. Suki regularly attends a children’s camp for burn victims. At this camp she gives the children hope for the long recovery process. It was Suki’s pure will to live that help her survive this horrible tragedy. It is that will that she is passing on to others. Horses are fantastic sources of therapy and inspiration. Thank you Suki for sharing your will. [Suki’s story]

The Montana bound horses are safely resting in their stables. Look to EN for all your Rebecca Farm’s news coverage. Should be an exciting weekend with fantastic athletes. Let’s hope everyone in Montana has the weekend they are hoping for!

Now for a little Sharon White action:

Hope everyone has a fantastic Wednesday. If I could think of something cheesy to say right now I would. Keep cool, keep hydrated, and keep locked in to EN for all the latest news. Go eventing.
