Eventing Nation is everywhere

I love short work weeks. I have spent the entire week thus far thinking it is a different day. Luckily I believe it is Wednesday instead of Thursday which means the weekend is actually closer than I think. For eventing, the weekend starts today. With two of the biggest competitions in the eventing world getting underway, there is a lot to be involved with. In the US, The American Eventing Championships gets underway today. There are gobs and gobs of riders from all over the US in Georgia for this incredible event. Speaking of Georgia, John loves that state even though he spends as much time as possible making fun of it in his FAQs post.
Across the tiny pond, Blenheim is getting underway with the dressage. With eight North American’s competing, there will be plenty of reasons to follow Blenheim. Coming right after Burghley, there will still be a lot of excitement at Blenheim. It is also nice for people who didn’t have the ideal “go” at Burghley because they can use this as their fall three day. Believe me, Blenheim is a serious three star and will give us a lot of excitement.
In case you missed it, the eight North America pairs are as follows:

Phillip Dutton and Mighty Nice
Clark Montgomery and Loughan Glen
Will Faudree and Pawlow
Aimee Chambers and After Eight
Julian Stiller and Enjoy Me
Tiana Coudray and Ringwood Magister
Kyle Carter and Madison Park (CAN)
Kathryn Robinson and Let It Bee (CAN)

And for a few live scores:

Copper Meadows HT [Live Scores]

Whidbey Island PC One Days [Live Scores]

Bucks County Horse Park Fall HT [Live Scores]

Not only is Blenheim serving as a glorious fall three day, it is serving as a qualification for the Olympics. Japan, China and Australia will be fighting for one last spot. I can’t even begin to understand how focused/worried/nervous/stressed those riders must feel heading into Blenheim. [Qualify NOW]

FLAIR is having a contest at the AECs:
“This month’s contest is for anyone out there planning on going to, or riding in, this weekend’s American Eventing Championships (AECs) in Georgia. You cowboys and cowgirls may be grumbling —  feeling slighted and left out of this one? Not to worry. We promise we’ll have one just for you Rodeo folks very soon! But, because we are sponsoring this week’s AEC, we wanted to create a little contest just for the occasion!”

The winner will receive a gift package including three FLAIR strips, FLAIR microfiber strip rag and a FLAIR hat. [Details HERE]

And just incase you have missed it, FLAIR is sponsoring the AECs. Find out about their free FLAIR strip and application process (pre-xc) HERE

After a fantastic Burghley, Colleen Rutledge has had a very exciting journey back to the states. As she said, she is now well diversed in transportation. But what sounds most exciting is her time spent in Amsterdam. Sangria always makes for a good time. Sangria combined with Tequila and Amsterdam- I’m not even sure John could handle that. [Collen’s Journey Home]

Zara Philips may have missed her honeymoon, but she is still thinking of baby making. But hold on, don’t get excited just yet. Babies won’t be anywhere in the near future. For now, Zara and her husband are enjoying the simple things like watching CSI (just like my roommate and I!!) and cooking. Both of them are extreme athletes and for now they plan to just put in their work. One day, there will be little rugby playing horse riding babies. But not now. [Simple life]

As my fellow east coasters have experienced, fall is on the way. And with the arrival of fall, I can’t help but think FOOTBALL. While I am a NFL fan, college is where it is at. I wish I could remember John’s favorite team so I could poke fun, but I can’t. All I know is: 1) if it’s Kentucky, they had a very low scoring opening game. 2) Yes, I love South Carolina football and yes that includes rebel Stephen Garcia. 3) The best game of last weekend was MD vs Miami. The refs favored Miami and if that is how they plan to call the games all season, there are going to be some very unhappy fans. But, MD still won. 4) I will try to avoid talking too much football, but sometimes I can’t resist. and 5) SCREW ALABAMA.

Hurricane Irene has left behind a lot of devastation. But one heart breaking story is the missing 22 horses in upstate New York. The horses have been missing from Leland Neff’s property since August 27. There were three generations of horses there. Neff has a fantastic breeding program. Not one horse has been found dead. But with heavy destruction and now another evacuation order, finding them is proving nearly impossible. Please read further to see how you can help. [22 missing horses]
