There’s looking good, and then there’s looking good. You know when you are out shopping, and can be browsing around looking for nothing in particular, and then you stop. Brought to a halt when you see something that just sort of speaks to you. It’s an elusive feeling that doesn’t happen all that often. So at that particular moment, I know that I’ve found the perfect top. Or the perfect dress. Or even the perfect pair of jeans. Basically, when something practically jumps off the rack at me, calling my name like that, I know that I’ve found that one item that I am destined to take home with me.

Finding the perfect new piece to add to your wardrobe–casual or riding–can be its own special kind of achievement, I suppose. I’ve mentioned before that I can be a bit of a clothes junkie. And I will admit that I do like to go shopping. So there is always the hazard of the unplanned purchase when you see that item that just pops out at you. Catalog or online browsing is a little bit safer, because you can’t exactly snatch something up and whisk into the fitting room to try it on. There is sort of a delayed gratification in shopping that way; you really have to mull over items before you click the ‘Add To Cart’ button. Regardless of the shopping venue though, sometimes, things just happen. I got that exact feeling when I was browsing through Tredstep Ireland‘s Symphony Collection before it launched–specifically, when I saw a photograph of their Futura Sport Top.

I love the feel of wearing the Tredstep Futura Sport top…

So, of course I leapt at the chance to try out the Futura Sport Top for myself. Let me preface what follows by saying that my ‘colors’ are red, white and blue. Or anything that incorporates an American flag. So I’m naturally drawn to any gear that comes in colors that are patriotic and/or represent the US of A. Now flashback to when I was scrolling down, and what should my eyes spy on the screen of my laptop, but a striking blue colored top with red accenting that just POPPED. I stopped scrolling. I saw. I was super (and I mean super) excited. And I wanted. The colors were perfectly suited to my taste, and I absolutely loved the contrast of the red piping on the blue top. It vaguely reminded me of the movie Tron…did anyone else see that a few years back? The original was totally before my time, but I saw the reboot….anyone? Anyone? Ok, maybe I was the only one who saw that. But anyway, I am totally into the red contrasting that runs along the body lines. Unfortunately for me, at the time that I first saw the Futura Sport Top, it was not yet available for purchase. (Drats). So suffice to say, the Futura top had a lot of build up in my mind, and my expectations for it were high before I received it.

Sporty, huh? How appropriately named then!

Sporty, huh? How appropriately named then!

When I first pulled out the Futura Sport Top to try on for the first time, I was not disappointed upon initially seeing it. The colors looked fantastic in person, and I was still smitten with the contrasting red piping on the shirt. Not only is there red piping to accent the top, but the zipper and inside of the collar are also red to provide additional accenting. There is also a small & stylish red colored Tredstep logo on the left chest, one at the top of the back, as well as larger log & ‘Trestep Ireland’ spelled out down the left sleeve (which gives the top a sporty accent, if I do say so myself). The fabric of the top felt light, and smooth to the touch — it is actually made out of Tredstep’s own AirSilk four-way stretch fabric, which converts moisture into cooling energy for the rider. And I like the little details as well. The Tredstep logo on the zipper pull. The zipper ‘guard’ at the top. I couldn’t deny, the Futura top looked fab(ulous) in person.

After checking it all out, I pulled the top on to see how it looked — and, can I say, it looked just as good as how I pictured it in my mind. The fabric was fitted against me, without being too tight (because I don’t know many people that like tops that are overly clingy and reminiscent of spandex…at least, I don’t anyway). I liked how smooth it felt against my skin, and I just flipped over how great the contrasting red piping looked (in case I haven’t mentioned that yet). Plus, the Futura Sport top was extremely comfortable all the while when I wore it. While I groomed. While I mucked stalls. While I rode. And, the best part for me? Not only was the fabric comfortable and stretchy, but it also kept me feeling cool as well. When I did have some moisture (from working up a sweat…let’s not beat around the bush here, it’s just what happens when you work hard), it seemed to dry fairly quickly; which was what helped me to stay cool! Looks great. Check. Feels great. Check. Now that’s a major win for me.

...plus, gotta LOVE those colors!

…plus, gotta LOVE those colors!

Of course I love the fact that the Tredstep Ireland Futura Sport Top comes in my own personal colors, but my appreciation for it goes beyond the colors. Sure, I think that the contrasting piping looking fabulous, but I also like the sporty look of the Futura Sport top (so it must be appropriately name). Even better yet though, I enjoy how comfortable the top is wear and ride in; I’ve worn it both by itself, and also layered under my cross country vest–and it works well either way. Suffice to say that the Futura Sport top has earned a spot of favor in my riding wardrobe!

Go fashionable & comfortable tops.  Go Tredstep Ireland.  Go Eventing.
