A USEA Foundation-backed initiative aimed at helping eventers dial in their cross country pace is picking up momentum heading into summer.

Ride the Pace, supported by the USEA Foundation’s TEAPRO grant and sponsored by Strider, has completed three practice sessions at Frazier Farm in Woodbury, CT, and is now looking ahead to two upcoming clinics in Millbrook, NY, on June 12 and 19. The Millbrook sessions are being organized in collaboration with Booli Selmayr, and registration information is available through the USEA website.

The program focuses on one of eventing’s most fundamental — and frequently undertrained — skills: riding 400 meters per minute with consistency and confidence. Sessions give riders the chance to experience measured distances at pace in a structured environment, with the larger goal of encouraging them to recreate that setup at home.

“We’re not just tracking participation — we’re tracking reach,” said program organizer Rachel Medbery. “Every view, every session, every rider who goes home and sets up 400 meters in their field is a win. The goal is to build the motivation and muscle memory so that pacing becomes second nature.”

The program has also built out a digital component to extend its reach beyond in-person sessions. An unmounted educational session is now available on the Ride the Pace YouTube channel and has already logged more than 200 views.

Riders interested in the Millbrook clinics can find details and sign up through the USEA’s educational activities page.
