Happy Derby day! It promises to be a glorious day full of extravagant hats and gorgeous Thoroughbreds as the best three-year-olds vie for one of the most coveted prizes in the equine industry. In case you missed it, Untapable with Rosie Napravnik won the Kentucky Oaks yesterday in decisive fashion. This is Rosie’s second Oaks win, and she also has the ride on on Vicar’s in Trouble (22-1 as of Friday afternoon) in today’s Run for the Roses. While Vicar’s in Trouble is a long shot and starting from a somewhat undesirable post position (1), if Rosie can pull off the win today she will become the first woman to win the Kentucky Derby. Hats off to you on your Oaks win, Rosie, and best of luck today! Are you having an EN-style Derby party today? If so, tweet your photos to us @eventingnation, tag us on Instagram @goeventing, or post them to our Facebook page.
We would also like to send a big EN congratulations to Holly Payne, who got engaged this week to Eric Caravella. The Payne parents are likely staying busy, having just finished the nuptials of Doug Payne and Jessica Hampf (now Payne), but I’m sure they are loving every minute of it. Congratulations, Holly and Eric!
