First off, let’s just admire my handiwork and collectively congratulate me on my newfound ability to embed GIFs on the website. From now on I will be doing it at all times possible. The above gem is from a Tumblr account called #WhatShouldEventersCallMe, and if you have some free time (or even if you don’t) it’s worth a look, because it’s completely hilarious. I must mention though that there is one that suggets judgement about wearing pink on cross country, which is applicable to everybody except Courtney Sendak, because she rides a palomino pony around Advanced, and therefore can wear whatever shade of pink she likes.

The USEF has opened voting for the 2012 Horse Of The Year! This year, two horses will be chosen out of the six candidates (both and international and a national horse) to become the 2012 USEF HOTY. These six horses have displayed talent, perseverance, a tremendous spirit and unwavering courage. The candidates are as follows, with the top three for the International category, and the next three for the National category:

  1. Flexible (ridden by Rich Fellers)
  2. Manoir de Carneville (ridden by Sinead Halpin)
  3. NTEC Richter Scale (ridden by the recently deceased Jonathan Wentz)
  4. CHCourageous Lord (ridden by Dr. Owen Weaver)
  5. Germ (ridden by Victoria Servin)
  6. Jersey Boy (ridden by Jennifer Alfano)

After a banner year, NAJYRC and Fair Hill CCI** Champion Connor Husain has been awarded the Amanda Warrington Grant from the USET. “It is such an honor to receive such an amazing grant,” said Husain, the first male to win this prestigious grant. “To get this kind of recognition from USET Foundation is really a dream come true. I’ve had a really good season with my horse, and I hope it continues.” As the recipient of the grant, Husain will receive up to $5,000 to help offset expenses associated with his training over the next year. Britain mourns the loss of renowned event trainer Kenneth Clawson today. Kenneth passed away on Tuesday after a five year battle with leukemia. He was well known for training such stars as JP Sheffield and Oliver Townend as well helping Zara Phillips, Rodney Powell, Pippa Funnell and Piggy French. He was showjumping team trainer to the British Eventing squad and World Class Programme in 1998, continuing to help through the Beijing Olympics.
