Torrential Downpours Lead to Rain Delay at Fair Hill

Event officials called a rain delay right as Julie Richards and Parc Cooley were finishing their familiarization with the water complex in the 5-Year-Old YEH East Coast Championships.

Despite forecasts for sunshine at Fair Hill, the skies have opened up and we’re currently experiencing a torrential downpour complete with thunder and lightning. It wouldn’t be Fair Hill without nasty weather, right? Two horses ran in the jumping portion of the 5-Year-Old Young Event Horse Championships before officials called a delay, just as Julie Richards and Parc Cooley were about to start their ride. We’re now under a rain delay, as event officials are anticipating the storm will take about an hour to pass. New ride times: Laura VanderVliet will ride the CCI3* test ride at 9:55 a.m.; Marilyn Little will kick off the CCI3* dressage with RF Demeter at 10:15 a.m.; YEH will resume at 10 a.m. with Julie Richards and Parc Cooley. Stay tuned for more updates.

Update: Laura VanderVliet is warming up now to start the test ride at the new 9:55 a.m. time, despite continued heavy rains. The Young Event Horses are set to resume at 10 a.m. As of 10:10 a.m., course officials have pushed the start for cross country tomorrow to 9:30 a.m. Stay dry out there, everyone!
