It’s not Monday anymore, but this gem of Monday Motivation is too good not to shout from the rooftops. Lainey Ashker shared her thoughts on her Facebook Page yesterday reminding us all that we’re in a game of inches.
“‘What if I’m not good enough?’ is a question I often ask myself. What if I’ve spent my whole life reaching and clawing at something that somehow will elude me at the end of the day? It’s easy to feel that sense of worthlessness because if my life hasn’t achieved EVERYTHING by now then I’ve obviously achieved NOTHING. Does this ring a bell?!
“First of all, SLOW YOUR ROLL. Rome wasn’t built in a day so why should you think that your quasi-Olympic talent will place you on a team within four years? And if someone you know performs [20 meter]circles around you and achieves YOUR goals in an eighth of the time well instead of finding excuses for why this person is so privileged GO AND STUDY him/her. Ask the right questions. Hell, applaud he/she for her efforts in achieving something you still only dream of doing!
“You see, you and I we aren’t the best in our game. We don’t ooze talent nor does it come easy to us like a ‘genius.’ WE AREN’T THE OBVIOUS CHOICES FOR SUPERSTARDOM. But you know what we do have? Humility. Knowing that we may have to work, study, practice, focus harder than the other guy and WE👏🏽WILL👏🏽NOT👏🏽BE👏🏽SWAYED👏🏽. We will never take our eyes off the prize because if we did THEN THAT WOULD MEAN OUR LIFE HAS GONE TO WASTE. Remember, it’s OKAY to not be the obvious best in whatever it is that you pursue. After all it wasn’t the hare who won the race now was it?”
