Badminton Horse Trials just published this great throwback footage of Mary King (then Thomson) winning the event in 1992 with King William, a British-bred gelding by Nickel King.
Mary has a storied history with Badminton, having first decided she wanted to be a professional event rider when she attended the event for the first time at age 11.
She competed at her first Badminton in 1985, when she placed seventh with Diver’s Rock. She went on to win with King William in 1992 and then won the event for a second time with Star Appeal in 1996.
