Busy Wednesday News and Notes from Horse Quencher

I love Wednesdays. The middle of the week brings the joy of the upcoming weekend. Make it to the end of Wednesday and you can start to taste the fun of the weekend. Honestly though, the heat here at the EN headquarters is starting to get a bit ridiculous. Although it is summer, I am not finding it very appealing to do anything outdoors. Once the riding is done, inside I go. A few nights ago, a good friend of mine had a great idea. Indoor rock climbing. It’s like the adventure of the outdoors combined with the glory of air conditioning. So, if you are looking for a good time, head to a local rock wall. I’m just waiting for my chance to get John to the top of a wall and leave him there. In time.
It’s a busy Wednesday here on Eventing Nation. Hold on tight because there are some really cool things coming up!
Rumor has it there will be some exciting High Performance news in the near future. With the Pan American Games coming up in October, there is bound to be lots of news coming out of the USEF headquarters. Stay tuned to EN for all the latest updates. [Pan Am applicants]
Don’t get too ahead of yourself. Before we roll to the Pan Ams, we needn’t forget Burghley! The list is growing rapidly with a lot of exciting riders to watch. As mentioned before, there will be three Canadian riders (Hawley, Kyle, Jessie) and seven American riders (Will F., Will C., Buck, Colleen, Julian, Sharon, Boyd). While the list is long and exciting, it is bound to change. Make sure you keep checking to see if your favorites are still on the list. [Burghley Entries]
Last Wednesday in July only mean one thing! The start of the NAJYRC trot-ups for the eventers. With trot ups being held today, the dressage will take place Thursday and Friday. There will be coverage coming your way all week. Be sure to wish all the Young Riders good luck as the head into one of the biggest competitions they have ever done.
Speaking of Young Riders, area VI is traveling in fine fashion to the competition. At 2am on Saturday, the team began their journey by road tripping to LAX. They were met by their flight crew at 3:45am to begin the loading process for their 6am flight. It was a tight squeeze to fit all the horses and equipment but they did it. By now they are all safely in Kentucky preparing for the trot-up. [Area VI flight]
There is a new EN contest coming up. Get excited. There is potential for serious laughter, good reads, and a chance to really show up John. Of course, the Chinchillas will be on hand for any potential judging and Annie will be there to break up the crowds when the winner is chosen. Stay tuned.
Who loves Harry Potter? Who loves FLAIR? Who wouldn’t want to have both in their lives together? Recently, an eventer won the latest FLAIR contest. Check out the awesome picture of what they won. [The ever trusty, Facebook]
Becky Holder and Courageous Comet love KESMARC. KESMARC is a wonderful rehab facility in Ocala, FL. For several months, this facility played host to the ever famous, Comet. After an injured check ligament, Comet was sent to KESMARC for his rehab. The facility was able to provide Comet with the most top notch care and service. Comet, who is never shy to let you know what he wants, was treated to lots of walking, the aqua tread, laser treatment, and tons of spoiling. After 10 weeks, Comet returned home to GA to continue his rehab. KESMARC is a world class facility that caters to many top riders. If you ever need a rehab facility, I highly recommend KESMARC. Just in case you missed this awesome video the first time around. [Hawley and Gin & Juice]
Holly Hudspeth discussed how important it is to be fit. After being out of the tack for quiet a few months, Holly headed to a local starter trial for some practice. Feeling a little winded and loose in the tack, Holly says she was glad to be jumping three feet. Rider fitness is really important. It can make the difference between a “just get it done” ride and a really professional ride. Not to mention, the fitter you are, the better you can control that beast! [Holly Hudspeth]
Best she is awesome…
Lock your seat belt and stay tuned for a good rest of the week here at EN. Go Eventing.
