Defender Burghley certainly did not disappoint when it came to sporting action, and it delivered in other ways too – not least in helping to raise a massive amount of money for the Georgie Campbell Foundation. They hosted a few different events across the weekend, including a coursework with Jesse Campbell, a prize draw and a cross country preview on Friday evening, with a live panel hosted by Nicole Brown and featuring Jesse Campbell, Jonelle Price, Andrew Heffernan and Tom McEwen. The total raised at the end of Sunday was a magnificent £24,539 – and that number is still rising, thanks to the Silent Auction that closes TONIGHT!
There are some incredible prizes on there – VIP tickets to next week’s European Championships at Blenheim, lessons with Bubby Upton, luxury holidays, the list goes on. Bidding closes this evening, so there is still time to get your bids in and raise even more money for this incredibly special – and important – charity.

The UK Autumn eventing calendar is hot, hot, hot, rolling from one big International to the next. Burghley last week, this week it is the turn of Cornbury House International Horse Trials. Lucy Jackson and Nicole Brown dissect the event in more detail over on the EquiRatings Cornbury Preview Show – and as they reveal, there are some REALLY exciting entries in there!
This is huge news for the UK – the BBC is set to broadcast the European Eventing Championships next week. While FEI TV will stream the event in its entirety, the BBC will also be showing all of the action from Saturday and Sunday too. Quite the breakthrough for UK viewers, who have long bemoaned the loss of equestrian sport from mainstream media. Could this be the beginning of its return?!
Turns out that the natural way is the best way…who would have thunk it?! According to research from the Royal Veterinary College, Thorougbred foals who have access to more turnout and are weaned later have more chance of success later in life, mainly because the first six months of their life are some of the most crucial when it comes to their longterm development. This weekend, the Bred to Event Classic will host its final qualifier ahead of the Championship competition held over the weekend (September 12 and 13) at Loch Moy Farm in Adamstown, Md.
The Bred to Event Classic is hosted by Loch Moy Farm, in combination with Maryland International Equestrian Foundation. It is a competition dedicated to the breeding of event-bred horses. This classic championship will be an opportunity for breeders and owners alike to showcase their decision-making and horsemanship with the young horses they show.
For the Championship this weekend, there will be special awards for Maryland Bred horses, TB horses, and prize money will be split between Breeders/Owners, and Riders.
Winners of the yearling through 3-year-old competition will automatically be given a free entry for 2025 Bred to Event Classic. Winning horses of the 4 and 5-year-old competition will be given an annual entry for 3 years into the Maryland Horse Trials recognized events.
