Weekly OTTB Wishlist Presented by Cosequin

OTTBs are among the most prominently represented breed in the eventing world. Each day, hundreds of ex-racehorses find themselves at the end of their racing career and in need of a new home. Luckily, organizations such as CANTER, New Vocations, Recycled Racehorses, and many more are always on alert for new horses that are ready for second careers. Each week, we'll be bringing you a few OTTB ads that caught our eye. Keep an eye out here for your next eventing superstar!

It may be Christmas, but did you forget to put a pony under your tree? If so, there are many horses who would love a new home for the holidays! Check out this week’s wishlist, and don’t forget to let us know if one of them comes home with you!

First up this week is a 2010 gelding whose Jockey Club name isĀ General Pico (Hard SpunQueen’s Lady, by Storm Cat). This guy is 16.3 hands and is a great looking prospect for sport. He’s already been jumped and ridden bareback and is said to be very brave with a great mind. Do we have any Storm Cat fans out there? This one is for you!

Pico raced three times and has been retired since September 2013. Don’t miss out on this great looking gelding and check out the Retired Racehorse Project listings for more information!

Next up is an adorable 4-year-old filly listed with CANTER Illinois. Zenina (Seeking the Best (IRE)Zenia, by Zen) raced 19 times, with her last race on August 16, 2014, and was retired sound. She earned just under $13,000 in her career and is now ready to move on to her second job. We’re loving the sweet eye on this one, and we know someone will fall in love with her!

Be sure to check out Zenina’s listing here.

Our third horse this week is Hay Shares (Henny HughesOmshanti, by Concern), a 16 hand 2010 gelding with a great work ethic and a natural sense of balance. He’s looking for a confident rider to take him to new heights, and his adoption fee has been reduced to $275 for the holiday season!

This guy is relatively lightly raced with seven starts, but he took home over $100,000 with three wins. This guy is a competitor! Check out his listing on New Vocations here.
