Sunbleached end of alfalfa bale | What the Hay? Part II

Note the sunbleached left edge of this bale, while the interior is still green. This bale is from June, 2012 and hasn’t lost much nutritional value at all. Hay loses most of its Vitamin A within the first 6 months, but other nutrients are stable. So long as it’s stored dry, “aged” hay is still good.
