The USA Equestrian Trust has awarded $200,000 in grants this year. The majority of the grants went to the USEF. But others went to research, land conservation, Young Riders, and several other places. Grants are a great way to help people and I love seeing them go to so many different organizations to be given out. [Grants]
Speaking of grants. New grants have been made available for Para-Equestrians aiming for London. $37,000 will go towards the support of fifteen riders. These grants will be distributed by the FEI and only available to riders who have not won medals at the Olympics, WEG and World Championship since 2004. [Para-Equestrian Grants]
Have you ever wondered about the history of a British riding pony? As we all know, good ponies can certainly shape a young child’s future. Tom Best, has created a book the has good information about breeding the types of ponies that parents love for their kids to have. Breeding is not the only thing in this book. There are social parts too. Maybe we need to get some British riding ponies over here! [The British Riding Pony]
In random news, John is still reeling from his excitement of the London Test Event. Mainly, he was “curious” if I noticed his new Facebook profile picture. And even more so, could I name the awesomely cool girl standing in the photo with him. Hint: Top placed American at Rolex. John was also concerned about the shirt he was wearing and what I thought of that. Come on ladies, someone please snag up this fine catch.
Eventing Nation would like to send it’s condolences to Dirk Schrade. Dirk lost his lovely mount, Gadget de la Cere last week due to severe colic. Dirk and Gadget de la Cere competing together at the upper levels for many years. My this wonderful animal rest in peace. [Gadget de la Cere]
