Before the eventing horses passed the first horse inspection yesterday, NAJYRC kicked off with Opening Ceremonies on Wednesday, complete with golf cart decorating challenges and team photos. Kim Parisan, mother of Area II’s Maddie Parisan, kindly sent us these photos from the Opening Ceremonies as well as the jog. Many thanks to Kim for chronicling her experiences for us!
From Kim:
We woke up to a cool crisp 53 degree morning on Wednesday in Kentucky. The weather is perfect for riders and horses; we even had to pull out the blankets for the horses. Most people had either a sweatshirt or jacket on this morning, but with the temperatures rising into the mid 70’s today, we will all be back in shorts. Compared to last years daunting heat and humidity, the cool, crisp air is a welcomed treat!
Last evenings opening ceremonies at the Spy Coast Farm was such a blast. Everyone there had a smile on their face and there were many laughs to be had. The ride over from the horse park to the farm was ever so entertaining with the “wild” Mexican show jump team and the Canadians squirting each other with super soakers and buckets of water.
This year everyone went all out with decorating the golf carts. They had patriotic themes, horse themes, WEG themes, jungle themes, you name it they had it!
The winning golf cart went to the endurance riders from the mid south with their ice cream truck theme!
