Zenyatta, one of the greatest racehorses of our time, stole many hearts on her way to winning 19 of her 20 starts. Her thrilling victory in the 2009 Breeders Cup Classic and her narrow loss in the 2010 Breeders Cup Classic will long be remembered by horse-racing fans as some of the most incredible performances in the history of the sport. While many believe there will never be another Zenyatta, her half-sister Eblouissante — both mares share the same dam, Vertigineux — put in a very thrilling performance in her maiden race, winning in a very similar fashion to which Zenyatta won her own maiden race almost exactly five years ago. Compare both of these videos of the two mares’ maiden races. It’s clear Eblouissante — whose name means “dazzling” in French — will be one to watch for the future.
