We reported yesterday that Andrew Nicholson suffered a neck injury after falling from Cillnabradden Evo at the final fence on cross country at the Festival of British Eventing on Saturday.

Andrew had been transferred to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and underwent surgery yesterday. Equestrian Sports New Zealand has just posted the following statement issued by a family spokesperson:

“Andrew Nicholson underwent surgery yesterday to repair the injury to his neck. The surgery went well and his condition is stable. Andrew is comfortable and has full range of movement. His family would like to thank the many well-wishers.”

At this time, no further details are available regarding the extent of Andrew’s injury, but we are relieved to hear that he is in stable condition after a successful surgery. We’ll continue to provide updates on Andrew’s condition and recovery as they are made available.
