About Charlotte Agnew

Charlotte is a rising talent on the British Event circuit and is on the UK Sport World Class Development Programme. At 18 she finished 5th in her first CCI*** at Blair Castle, at 20 completed her first Badminton, and at 21 finished 4th individually and won team gold at the Young Rider European Championships. Having graduated from Edinburgh University in 2011 with a 2:1 in English Literature, Charlotte moved from her native Scotland to Gloucestershire, in order to have all the facilities, events and best possible training at her fingertips. The move paid off and Charlotte has been placed consistently on the International stage. Out of Africa has a number of 3* accolades to his name, but really proved himself to be world class by finishing 5th and best of the British at Luhmuhlen CCI4* in 2012; the pair were selected as one of the reserves for the Senior Europeans last year. Versatility is hugely important in this sport, and Charlotte has also had International success on a number of other horses who she has produced through the ranks. These include Pavonita (2nd Hartpury CCI1* 2011 and 11th Houghton CCI2* 2012), Dumbleton (1st Brand Hall CIC1* 2013) and Longwood (7th CCI3* 2013). Despite being a true British rider Charlotte is keen to remember her Scottish roots, and indeed she has been ranked the No. 1 Scottish Event rider in the FEI World Rankings for the last two years. Supported by the lottery funded World Class Development programme she now has her eyes firmly set on the 2016 Olympics. Charlotte also has an expanding role in the media. In 2010 she made her TV debut, co-presenting for the BBC at Blair Castle International Horse Trials, and on a journalistic note she has been a regular correspondent for Horse and Hound and Eventing magazines over the last five years.

Hi everyone!  I am extremely honoured to have been asked to write for EN, and really hope you will enjoy reading about my exploits across the pond.  I’ve got a fantastic team this year – both equine and human – and am looking forward to the season kicking off.  Out of Africa won’t be contesting Badminton this year; he doesn’t owe me anything and we have decided instead to focus our attention on some CIC3*’s.  He is in great shape though and feeling as full of beans as ever so hopefully we will both have a lot of fun doing that.  Having sold my 3* horse Longwood last year, there now quite a gap between Zul (Out of Africa) and the rest of the team…but they are no less exciting.  Lady Bamford has given me another lovely horse to rider (having sold her wonderful Dumbleton last year), and Dubai Cruise will be aiming for a spring CIC*, alongside my old landlady Pat Blanchard’s talented youngster Fleeting Meeting.

White Heather Eventing is also the proud owner of two very promising young horses, which I found after a lengthy search in Germany last year.  Having sold a number of horses well last year I really wanted to develop this side of my business further, which led to the creation of the syndicate.  The aim is to produce and sell some really quality young horses, to run alongside a potential Rio 2016 horse.  Exciting!

Once again I do hope you enjoy reading my little snippets, and please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are interested in any of the horses, or being part of the team in any way.  Have a great season!
